Boothbay Harbor Country Club was named the Best Private Course in Maine by Northeast Golf Magazine. The 2018 Best in Northeast Golf Awards were finalized through a public survey that received thousands of entries, national lists, and expert opinions.

We’re truly honored to receive the award for best private club in Maine as our goal is provide our members and guests with the best experience possible. This marks the third award that we’ve received this year which we’re very proud of. More importantly, we’re thrilled to be able to provide our members with top notch, award-winning facilities coupled with exceptional amenities and services.

“I have been redesigning the golf course for the past six years,” said owner Paul Coulombe. “It has been a labor of love. I have added length as well as interest to make all 18 holes very unique. There are many challenges with double tiered greens and false fronts. The entire irrigation system has been replaced and all the bunkers have been rebuilt.

“Bruce Hepner, a leading golf architect who is considered a specialist of classic course restoration, oversaw the redesign project. Bruce previously worked for Tom Doak for 30 years, having built Banyon Dunes in Oregon and Stream Song in Florida - both in the top 100 best courses. He achieved way more than I could have imagined. He is a genius as far as seeing possibilities that are not obvious to anyone else including myself. It’s not just about golf but the aesthetic beauty that he adds to the entire process. Yet, he makes it all seem so natural when it has been completed. All the ledge outcroppings and streams with running water add up to a wonderful overall experience. It is one of the most beautiful walks in Maine that happens to be a golf course. Nature at its absolute best!”
