Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library

I was driving through Augusta Sunday night around 8:30, and you know what my car thermometer read?

Seventy-three degrees. On Sept. 16! At 8:30 p.m.!

It felt like a July evening, except that it was dark out. No matter how warm it stays, you know fall and winter are coming when the evenings get as dark as night.

We’re settling into our fall programming here at the library, even though it still feels like summer; Minecraft Club is back to meeting every Wednesday from 1:45-3 p.m., the Monday Night Book Club continues to meet on the second Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m., and the Book Focus Group is meeting on the third Wednesday at 4 p.m.

And starting on Wednesday, Oct. 17, Miss Harolyn will hold a weekly 6 p.m. “Pajama Storytime” at in the Children’s Room.

Kids (and parents!) can come dressed in their PJs and slippers, and cuddle with a blanket or favorite stuffed animal while Miss Harolyn reads bedtime stories.

As always, you don’t have to have a library card to come to story time or any library programming, though you’re welcome to sign up for one at any time. They’re free to year-round residents of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, and Southport or anyone who owns a property in any of these towns.

If book clubs and story times aren’t your thing, don’t forget that we’re hosting talks on the next three consecutive Wednesdays; Maine Burning, the KKK Invasion on Sept. 19, Climate Change and the Sea on Sept. 26, and Maine Tracks: the Underground Railroad in Maine on Oct. 3, all at 6 p.m. in the Great Room.

Finally, we’ll be at the Boothbay Railway Village’s Fall Foliage Festival again this year with books and crafts for the young and young at heart.

So there you go—plenty of activities to fill your maybe-one-day chilly, definitely darkening evenings.
