Boothbay Lights ready to shine

Wed, 11/14/2018 - 12:00pm

That joyous time of year has finally arrived and the town is beginning to twinkle and sparkle, as we get ready to kick off Boothbay Lights for the 2018 season! We are looking forward to welcoming visitors from near and far to experience the festiveness that our region continues to display in our third year and it would not be possible without the help of some great businesses and people in our region.

First, we would like to thank our lead business sponsors at Tindal & Callahan Real Estate and Knickerbocker Group. Both are supporting Boothbay Lights again this year and we are thrilled to have them. We would also like to thank our Sparkle Sponsor, Janson’s Clothing Store, whom continues to shine with their holiday spirit.

Our Downtown Map, a new feature this year for our visitors, was made possible with the support of our five sponsors: Boathouse Bistro, Harbour Towne Inn, Ports of Italy, Robinson’s Wharf and The Russell House. A big thank you to these wonderful supporters who will all be busy welcoming visitors to our region during the holiday season.

We are also thrilled to thank our sponsor, Shed City, for the charming Shuttle Station that is located at the Boothbay Harbor Municipal Town lot on Howard Street. Shed City is located in Warren and has buildings of all shapes and sizes—stop in on your next trip north on Route One.

We would also like to thank a couple other contributors this year who help make us shine: Jon Marsh and Tom Minerich for their time and efforts building our “light bulbs” (can you spot all six of them around town?) and to Boothbay Region Greenhouses for their beautiful decorations around the harbor.

A big thank you goes out to the municipalities of Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor: Dan Bryer and Thomas Woodin, thank you for all that you continue to do for our towns and Boothbay Lights! But it’s not just the town managers; we must also thank the hard working public works employees from both the towns of Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor. They continue to impress with their light displays, but also, we must thank them for keeping the roads clear and safe during the holiday season—well, actually, year-round! Thank you town employees!

We cannot forget to take this opportunity to give a heartfelt thank you to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and Gardens Aglow. They have continued to be a collaborative partner with the Boothbay Lights Committee and have provided lots of support, not to mention, an amazing display of lights that help attract all these visitors to our region for the fourth year of Gardens Aglow. We are extremely appreciative of all that they do for the Boothbay peninsula.

And finally, we’d like to thank the people of this wonderful community who join in the festive spirit with their elaborate, creative and fun light displays that help welcome the many visitors coming to our region during the holiday season. May everyone have a safe and happy holiday and enjoy each moment!
