Boothbay Register/Wiscasset Newspaper Election 2018 Policy

1) The Boothbay Register and/or Wiscasset Newspaper will post and publish each candidate’s announcement as he or she sends it to the newspapers.

2) Every local candidate is allowed one column/opinion piece (600 to 800 words). Deadline has passed for this year.

3) Every local candidate will be asked to be interviewed by one of our reporters.

4) There are no limitations on the number of letters to the editor from supporters of the candidate, however, local letters from readership area take precedence due to space considerations. The deadline for political letters to the editor has passed for this year. These letters will not be published in the issue before Election Day.

5) The Boothbay Register and/or Wiscasset Newspaper will cover election related debates or public forums based on reporter availability, and as they are presented and are determined newsworthy.

6) For all other updates, information, opinions, developments, etc. that occur during the campaign, we urge candidates to become affiliates on our websites, or purchase stand-alone advertising. As an affiliate and at a small weekly cost, candidates have the option of posting their news whenever and however often they deem necessary to a campaign.
