Lucy Cooney and Judith Long conceived of the idea for the 10 x 10 Brunswick Benefit Art Exhibit & Sale and the first show was held that very same year, 2007.

Submissions for the 2014 show are now being sought and the deadline for entries is June 1.

The show will be held on September 26 at the Curtis Memorial Library and St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Last year, Nancy Rodgers of Woolwich was one of the 150 artists in the show. Rodgers, a former kindergarten teacher in Woolwich, Brunswick and Bath, had two watercolor paintings selected for the 2013 show.

Works of art are sold for $200, with half of the sale price donated to Arts Are Elementary and the other half to the artist.

Arts for Elementary is a nonprofit program founded in 1980 to bring the creative spirit into the Kindergarten through grade 5 classrooms in Brunswick's elementary schools. Artists, actors and writers share their passions to ignite each child's creative fire.
