In a rare under-the-lights game for the Boothbay Region High School Seahawks on Friday, it was a unique game for the Carrabec/Madison joint high school team, 0-9, who scored a perfect game against the 2-7 Seahawks.

The visiting team stormed the mound and senior pitcher Eric Wescott struck out the side in the fifth inning to complete the perfect shutout. Wescott struck out 10 batters and was complimented by faultless infield play that kept Seahawks to groundouts in the shortened game.

Seahawk starter Brett Hollowell struck out four before being relieved by Jamie LaBrecque in the third inning. Mark Bayaca and Ben Pearce finished out the game but could not dampen the Bandits' scoring attack aided by timely hitting, walks and numerous Seahawk fielding errors.

Bandits coach Peter Kirby said the perfect game was a first for his team and possibly for the combined high schools.

“There has never been one at least in my memory,” Kirby said.

The Bandits advanced to 1-9. The Seahawks fell to 2-8.
