Community invited to substance use prevention meeting

March 21 at the Boothbay Region YMCA, 2:30 to 4 p.m.
Mon, 03/11/2019 - 7:00am

At a time when drug use and addiction are of frequent conversation, Healthy Lincoln County invites the public to participate in the Substance Use Prevention Partnership (SUPP) and join their efforts in reducing youth substance use by attending their next meeting.

The group, known as the SUPP Coalition, has been working with community leaders and youth to prevent youth substance use for over three years. Each month, youth trends and prevention strategies are discussed in a collaborative manner with representation from across Lincoln County. March’s SUPP meeting will be held on Thursday, March 21 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Boothbay Region YMCA.

"It's important that community members are part of the decisions we make regarding substance use prevention.   In our meetings we discuss the work being done in the community, share what we're seeing and hearing, and determine what to work on next.  For March's meeting students from the Boothbay Region High School will be sharing the work they are doing around vaping, which has become a point of focus nationally with the rising popularity of JUUL.   We would love to see more community members, specifically parents, educators and business owners, attend this meeting to show their support and share their ideas," says Jess Breithaupt, project coordinator at Healthy Lincoln County.

No fees or registration are required to join a meeting. Email Jess with any questions or to join the mailing list: info@healthylincolncounty.org or call (207) 563-1330.
