Concerned about pollution

    Dear Editor:

Not too long ago our “hometown selectman” was all a twitter about the removal of the gas pumps at the center further reducing economic activity. However gasoline in fiberglass tanks was at least contained.

When you pass through the mess at the center one can not help but notice the “shiny, weed free” grass at two locations while the rest of the green is a crude planting of weeds. What a contrast ... but what about the costs!

Golf courses throughout the country spend billions of dollars on chemicals to make their grass “shine.” Weed-killing chemicals are a nasty group and have serious environmental consequences. Another mega operation has already admitted to using EPA listed poisons in our watershed.

The gas tanks and pumps maybe gone, but where do you think the run off from the “shiny” grass on Kenniston Hill and the Subway shop will end up? Three guesses: 1. Adams Pond, 2. Adams Pond, 3. Adams Pond.

The only environmentally safe weed remover is a goat!
