Sat, 10/06/2018 - 8:00am

UPDATE: This event has been rescheduled to Thursday, Nov. 1.

Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District announces its 71st annual Awards Banquet on Wednesday, Oct. 17 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The banquet will be held at the beautifully renovated Jewell Lodge overlooking Damariscotta Lake at Camp Wavus in Jefferson. The public is invited to join us for an exciting evening with good food, good friends, the chance to acknowledge the conservation contributions of Knox and Lincoln residents and – of course – lots of really good pies!

The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a cash bar provided by Savage-Oakes Vineyard & Winery and appetizers, followed at 6 by a spectacular dinner buffet - including beef, chicken and vegetarian selections, salads and more – catered by Megunticook Market. Dessert – PIE! – commences at 7, along with the chance to learn what the District has been up to this past year and to celebrate your friends and neighbors with whom we have worked to conserve soil and water resources in the district. Throughout the evening there will be raffle drawings, a chance to meet our supervisors and staff, and to peruse displays highlighting current District projects.

This year we are recognizing the following conservationists for their contributions:

Conservation Farm of 2018 - Cooper Funk & Marina Sideris (Camden) of Dooryard Farm

Lifetime Service – William Laflamme (Sidney), Maine DEP (retired)

Special Appreciation – North Nobleboro Community Association

Volunteer of the Year – Gail Presley (Rockland)

Woodland Stewardship – Dick Koubek (Bremen)

Excellence in Conservation Education – Coral Coombs, Lincolnville Central School; Ferolyn Curtis, South School (Rockland); Pamela Walton, Gilford Butler School (So Thomaston)
