Cookies, crafts and holiday history draw crowds

Saturday, Dec. 2 was a busy day for early holiday festivities around Boothbay Harbor as several venues were bustling.

The Congregational Church was filled with cheer for its annual Christmas Fair in Fellowship Hall. The highlight was a delicious array of cookies and other baked goods spread out across multiple tables. In addition, there was jewelry, knitted goods, handmade crafts, preserves, wreaths and a wide selection of take-home soups. All proceeds from the fair were to go to Community Resource Council's Community Fuel Fund.

Boothbay Region Historical Society Museum also hosted its annual holiday open house, celebrating with vintage decorations, festive foods, an art raffle and more. Shoppers could pick from local historical themed gifts including books, maps and photographs. And Richard Plunkett, appraiser and owner of The Wizard of Odds and Ends in Alna, was there for appraisals and to talk about collecting.
