CSD budget meeting May 10

    On Thursday, May 10 at 6 p.m., voters of Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor will convene at the Boothbay Region Elementary School gymnasium to vote on the Community School District budget. The warrant is composed of 17 articles in total. Article 1A will elect a moderator to preside over the meeting.

    Article 1 authorizes spending on regular instruction ($4,156,824.3); Article 2, special education, $1,626,710.77; Article 3, career and technical education $7,500; Article 4, other instruction, $294,197.42; Article 5, student and staff support, $947,154.10; Article 6, system administration, $270,439.17; Article 7, school administration, $514,923.74; Article 8, transportation and buses, $472,183.32; Article 9, facilities maintenance, $1,331,032.46; Article 10, debt service and other commitments, $277,774.51; Article 11, all other expenditures, $100,000.

    Article 12 asks voters to pass appropriations for the total cost of public education for pre-kindergarten through grade 12 split between Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor. Total appropriated for Boothbay is $3,771.784.13 and for Boothbay Harbor is $1,750,593.81. Total raised for Boothbay is $3,413,434.06 and for Boothbay Harbor is $1,584,230.97.

    Article 13 asks voters to appropriate the school committee’s recommendation of $3,421,121.63 for additional local funds.

    Article 14 summarizes the entire school budget for the 2018 – 2019 fiscal year: $9,998,739.82

    Article 15 asks voters to authorize the school committee to spend money obtained from federal, state and alternative grants and programs so long as those sums do not require spending unappropriated funds.

    Article 16 asks voters to appropriate $33,359.83 for adult education and raise $32,359.83 as a local share. This item also authorizes the CSD to spend “any additional, incidental, or miscellaneous receipts in the interest and for the wellbeing of the adult education program.”

    Article 17 asks voters to authorize the CSD to spend additional state education subsidies not included in the budget.
