William and Ellen Gascoigne can now replace the deck at their Brier Cove Lane property. In a meeting Thursday, Nov. 29, rescheduled from Nov. 15 due to the lack of a quorum, the Edgecomb planning board discussed the homeowners’ application.

Appearing before the board, David Starr of Gartley & Dorsky Engineering & Surveying in Damariscotta explained the project calls for rebuilding a deck. The new one will be 118 feet larger than the one it is replacing and 602 square feet in total. Plans also include adding a roof to the structure.

During the meeting, Starr responded to a series of required questions concerning the potential impact of construction on shoreland property. The questions addressed pollution, disposal of waste water and no adverse impact on aquatic life. After a brief discussion, board members approved the request.
