Down East Yacht Club

The Down East Yacht Club’s Day Tripper event on the last Saturday of the month, July 28, didn't bring the usual fleet of boats to Seal Cove, Bristol, but those who joined sure enjoyed it. This was the second 2018 “Day Tripper” event for the Down East Yacht Club.

DEYC members, including organizer, Pete Yesmentes, new members Larry and Susan Burkett, PC Captain Win Russell and wife Inge boarded their vessels for the cruise to Seal Cove located in the Damariscotta River. All three boats carried invited members and guests. Jack and Barbara Brennan joined Larry and Susan Burkett aboard their boat, Zest.

The weather was inevitably Maine, unpredictable with clouds, wind, sun, heat and, of course, intermittent fog. It became quite dense heading home in the mouth of the Damariscotta. However, all are such well-experienced boaters that there was not a moment of worry.

These Day Trippers have proved to be a popular way for DEYC members to gather informally, raft up and enjoy lunch with great friends. Will we do it again? For sure, on the last Saturday of the month, Aug. 25 at Barrett’s Park, Boothbay Harbor --- N43 50 49/W69 37 05. Barrett’s Park is a great place to launch a kayak so come out to join us directly following the DEYC Annual Meeting at the Tugboat Inn in Boothbay Harbor.
