On Saturday, June 30 the Edgecomb Fire Department held its fifth annual pancake breakfast as a joint effort with Edgecomb Community Church. Proceeds were divided between the two organizations.

The fire department's portion will go toward rescue equipment including a new attack vehicle that will replace two older trucks, according to Lieutenant Daren Graves.

On display Saturday were newly acquired jaws-of-life.  The department held a training session June 19, pulling apart and cutting away a donated truck to simulate the use of the equipment in a rescue, according to Graves.

Among those enjoying the breakfast were Edgecomb Green residents Connie Moore and Margaret Ellsworth. Community Church Reverend Kate Pinkham sat with sisters Joan and Ruth Bryant. Forty year department veteran Tom Trowbridge was accompanied by wife Linda.

Donations for the  pancake, bacon and beverage breakfast were collected in the traditional fireman’s boot.
