Building relationships with patients is a top priority for Family Physician Cynthia Dechenes, MD, who will begin to see patients of all ages at the Lincoln Medical Partners Family Care Center in Boothbay Harbor on May 21.

Dechenes joins Aquilino Alamo, MD, Alan Barker, MD, Anne Barker, APRN-FNP, Steven Feder, DO, and Eric Worthing, MD at the Family Care Center. Dechenes received her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York and completed her residency at the United States Air Force David Grant Medical Center Family Residency Program in Fairfield, California.

A former major in the United States Air Force, Dechenes practiced as a family physician at military clinics in Florida and Germany. She continues her service as a major in the Air National Guard. For the last 12 years, she has practiced in Topsham and Lewiston, Maine.

“I love the philosophy of family medicine which is a continuous healing relationship throughout a patient’s lifespan,” Dechenes commented. “I enjoy working with all ages, from newborns to seniors and building long-lasting relationships.”

Dechenes takes a holistic approach to patient care incorporating integrative health and medical acupuncture. Dechenes hopes to join Dr. Aquilino Alamo and Licensed Clinical Social Worker Lisa Carbone in offering medication-assisted treatment to help patients with substance use disorders.

“We are pleased to have Dr. Dechenes join our team at the Family Care Center,” said Family Care Center Practice Manager Carol McClure. “She has been practicing in family outpatient settings for more than 17 years and brings with her valuable experience and a passion for patient centered, family-friendly care.”

Dechenes was born in France, but spent most of her childhood in Millinocket. “Maine is home for me,” she explained. “This is where my husband and I wanted to raise our two children and that is what we have done.”

Dechenes and her family enjoy spending as much time outside as possible, whether they are cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, running, or cycling. “We love being active and living along the coast of Maine. It is a great place to be,” she commented.
