The fine folks of Boothbay Harbor

Mon, 08/13/2018 - 5:15pm

Dear Editor:

As I wind down my first summer as a new resident in Boothbay Harbor, I wanted to give a shout out to the many friendly folks that I have met on my daily wanderings and business dealings. First, big thanks go to the welcoming faces in the Boothbay Harbor Post Office. Miss Jenny and Miss Leslie could not have been more helpful and friendly, always greeting me by name! You don't see that in Houston! The staff at Hannaford truly know the meaning of customer service, as does the staff at the Lincoln Medical Center and the pharmacy staff at Rite Aid. I enjoyed meeting the town hall folks who patiently answered my questions.

As for the residents of Boothbay Harbor, wow! My husband and I have been delighted to meet a large group of new friends and neighbors. Sally and her crew at the Boat Bar are very welcoming to newcomers (and their dogs)! Dogs … the recently opened Boothbay Canine Daycare and Boarding has been a godsend as my pup loves the goodhearted and competent care of Carol and Donna.

If I were to make any complaints, it would be the lackadaisical manner in which contractors (painters, electricians, etc) respond to inquiries. Although I understand the local “dynamics,” this appears to be a good business opportunity for new incoming contractors to set up shop to meet the demand.

Thank you Boothbay Harbor ... look forward to returning for another lovely summer in a lovely community.

I promise not to bring the Texas heat along with me next year!
