The footbridge

Mon, 07/30/2018 - 5:15pm

    Dear Editor:

We, as owners of “The Bridge House,” have been approached often with opinions about future plans for the footbridge. Personally, our feelings are that the footbridge has served the town well and has only been compromised twice in 117 years (both in the era of World War I).

It is up to the residents and riparian owners to make sure their wishes are followed by local and state representatives. Early on it seems important to make the decision: does the town want the iconic wooden footbridge or do they want something other?

    Thanks for your consideration.
