There is a new, New Colossus. This time, Lady Liberty casts her gaze across the harbor with an incredulous frown.

“Give me your lawless, your organized criminality, your fentanyl dealers,

Your huddled masses yearning to be set  free without bail to commit more mayhem,

The wretched refuse of your empty prisons and mental institutions.

Send these, so the homeless Mainers be tempest-tost, neglected  and forgotten, 

so taxpayers may furnish EBT cards and cash to the angry and ungrateful.
