Known affectionately as the “pie ladies” here in Boothbay Harbor, these talented women at the Methodist church cooked, baked, and created gift baskets, ornaments, wreaths and more for the Dec. 2 Christmas Time Fair.
Cathy Blake said they fed around 65 people. “We had lots of shoppers that didn’t eat. We didn’t run out of any food – but our gift baskets flew out the door!”
The food included lobster stew made by Peggy Peters; a beef stew and chili were also delicious options.
The sweet and savory table – filled with cakes, cookies, pickles, jams and more – were strategically placed at the entrance/exit. Wreaths, round and star-shaped, composed of pine cones, pine, bells, shells and ribbon, were eye-catchers, as were table decorations from greens and berries in glassware to pine cone reindeer and festive holiday tumblers decorated with red reindeer, to a tabletop tree adorned with homemade ornaments, and more.
