The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor hosted a successful 11th annual Hometown Hootenanny fundraiser Saturday night, April 6. Hosting yet again were Garry Blackman of Tim Sprague and the Murky Water Band with Blackman on lead guitar, Tim Sprague on rhythm guitar, Dick Spofford on bass and banjo, and Bill Hallinan on drums. Blackman and the band dedicated the show to three of Maine’s fallen heroes over the past year: Captain Joel Barnes, Cpl. Eugene Cole and Det. Ben Campbell. Ron Arsenault, Emily Spofford and Sally Spofford Carroll joined Dick Spofford onstage, forming band Junction 27. About 20 other musicians joined the Murky Water Band onstage to pick and sing for over three hours.
