How to save money on medical care

Wed, 04/03/2019 - 10:00am

Are you struggling to afford medical care for you or your loved ones? The Boothbay Region Health Center provides a 30 percent discount for people that do not have insurance coverage and are able to pay on the day of their visit, or are able to set up a payment plan. We also barter with patients for services needed at the Health Center. This makes an established patient visit between $43 and $143 depending on the complexity (typically $66). If patients are still unable to afford medical care, we have many other resources to financially assist patients.

Part of our mission is to bring affordable healthcare to the Boothbay Region. This not only includes the services that we can offer at the Health Center, but we have many resources to help make other aspects of healthcare more affordable. We have been able to save patients over $300 on imaging studies (X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs). We contract with a lab company (we draw the blood right here in the office) that offers lab testing for a sixth of what local lab companies charge. You can get your basic screening lab tests for under $70 without insurance. If you have insurance, most lab testing is completely covered with no cost to the patient. We also have numerous different resources to use to make prescriptions more affordable for patients. For example, we had a patient that was spending $97 every three months on their prescriptions, we were able to get them delivered to their house every three months for $35 without using their insurance.

If you're interested in finding out more about the services we offer here at the Health Center, or need some assistance with finding affordable healthcare, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 633-1075 and ask to speak with one of our health coordinators. You can also email us at info@bbrhc.org and one of our health coordinators will get back to you as soon as we can.
