I am truly amazed at the number of people I have encountered that love a good mystery story. You might enjoy the easy reading of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple or M.C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin Series. Perhaps you’re in the mood for a suspenseful romantic novel by Linda Howard, Sandra Brown or Julie Garwood? If you want to grip the edge of your seat or grind your teeth, the medical examiners books by Patricia Cornwell or Tess Gerritsen will help you accomplish that.

While recently browsing through the library's mystery collection one particular title caught my eye: “The Body in the Library” by Agatha Christie. Out of curiosity I checked to see what other authors might have written about mysteries and libraries. Here are a few titles that I found: “Blue Ridge Library Mysteries” by Victoria Gilbert (protagonist is Library Director Amy Webber);  Cat in the Stacks Mysteries by Miranda James (introduces kind librarian Charlie Harris); Killer Librarian Series by Mary Lou Kirwin (protagonist is librarian Karen Nash); Haunted Library Mystery Series by Allison Brook (sleuth librarian is Carrie Singleton); Library Lover's Mysteries by Jenn McKinlay (starring Library Director Lindsey Norris); Lighthouse Library Mystery Series by Eva Gates (featuring Lucy Richardson librarian and resident of the Bodie Island Lighthouse) and Little Library Mystery Series by Elizabeth Kane Buzzelli (protagonist Jenny Weston).

What better place for a group of mystery lovers to form a Mystery Book Club than our own local library?

The first meeting will be held in the library's Community Room on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 10:15 a.m. In preparation the discussion will be: Who is your favorite mystery author and why?

Come join us as we explore the world of mystery story tellers. Happy reading mystery lovers!
