Something's brewing in Boothbay Harbor. A new internet café opens May 8 at Harbor Tech Solutions. Owners Nick and Emily Mirabile will debut Java Tech providing customers with internet access and a doughnut or another baked good and a hot cup of Joe while waiting for Harbor Tech staff to complete a task.

This week, the Mirabiles open Java Tech inside their 184 Townsend Ave. location. The Mirabiles bought Harbor Tech Solutions over a year ago. Each month, regulars expressed interest in having a place to complete work while waiting for a printing or scanning job at the store. These conversations led the Mirabiles to begin planning for an internet café, which provides space, internet access, baked goods and coffee for customers to economize their time.

“Our clientele come in for printing and scanning and say they wish they had a place to sit, drink a coffee  get some work done. This led us to putting in a few tables and chairs and serving baked goods and coffee,” said Nick Mirabile.

Java Tech has a soft opening May 8 and a grand opening May 13. Over the past weeks, Harbor Tech Solutions has installed a bar, coffee makers, and tables and  chairs. Java Tech is working with Seacoast Coffee in Newcastle and Creamed Baking Co. in Wiscasset. Java Tech will serve several coffees: expresso, ice, lattes, cappuccinos, ready to go and smoothies.
