It’s Maine Flower Show time!

Opens Thursday, March 28 and runs through Sunday, March 31
Wed, 03/27/2019 - 3:30pm

Maine’s largest flower show returns to Portland’s Thompson’s Point for its third consecutive year. The 2019 Maine Flower Show, owned and produced by the nonprofit Maine Landscape and Nursery Association (MELNA), will be held from March 28 through March 31, with ticket sales now open.

The show will feature 13 display gardens based around the theme “A Walk in Maine,” and will include more than 100 booths of plants, hardscape, arbor and garden supplies, as well as four consecutive days of speakers and seminars led by experts in growing and outdoor living. Pollinator-friendly Mystery Seed packets will be given out to attendees while supplies last.

New this year, the Norway Savings Bank Children’s Garden will give kids of all ages the opportunity to get their hands dirty while learning about plants and gardening. Activities will include planting with real soil, learning about food, fruit and pollination, interactive demos and a scavenger hunt.

The cost of general admission is $22, with $17 specialty pricing for seniors, and free admission for children 12 and under. The 2019 show will also honor military veterans on Friday, March 29rd, by offering a special $12 admission charge per person, for both veterans and their spouses. There will be a $2 per ticket discount for people paying cash at the door.

The 2019 schedule:  Premiere night - Wednesday, March 27 | 6:30 - 9 p.m. Show dates: Thursday, March 28 | 10 a.m.  to 6 p.m.; Friday, March 29 | 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.;  Saturday, March 30 | 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, March 31 | 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Due to ongoing construction at Thompson’s Point, onsite parking from Thursday to Sunday is being reserved for those with handicap plates and placards, as well as cars who have occupied infant and child carriers.

There’s a free parking and a shuttle service for everyone else. All other attendees are encouraged to park at The Maine Mall or the Italian Heritage Center. A free shuttle will run every 15 minutes to and from the show. Parking is available at the Maine Mall (section of Maine Mall Parking Lot across the street from Hannaford’s) and the Italian Heritage Center. Both of these lots will be clearly marked with signage beginning Thursday.

Free shuttle buses begin running at 9:30 a.m. each morning, and will run continuously throughout the show.
