Lucille J. Machon

Lucille J. Machon, 102, of Boothbay Harbor died March 8, 2019 at the Sussman House in Rockport.

Lucille was born January 22, 1917 in Boothbay Harbor to Ralph Colby and Lillian Williams Colby. She lived all of her life in Boothbay Harbor. She graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School in the Class of 1934. During high school she played basketball.

She worked for First National Stores for twenty years, as a postal worker for twenty years, and for Shop ’n Save for eight years. She was a life member of the Pythian Sisters. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Senior Citizens. Lucille loved to go out to eat at T and D Variety, Tugboat Inn, House of Pizza, Baker’s Way, and Moody’s Diner. She enjoyed camping across the United States from Maine to California. She especially enjoyed the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, and the Petrified Forest. She was on her computer daily looking at her email, Facebook and playing games.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ira Machon; brothers, Morrill Colby and Edwin Colby; and sister, Frances Parmenter.

She is survived by her son, Ira Machon and his wife Connie of Boothbay Harbor and Charleston, South Carolina; grandchildren, Susan Walters and her husband Tom of Anderson, South Carolina, and Sharon Ames and her husband Robert of Boothbay Harbor; great-grandchildren, Thomas Walters, Daniel Walters, David Machon, Angela Machon, Ashley Ames and Meredith Ames; nephews, Richard Colby of Woodbridge, Virginia and Ralph Colby of State College, Pennsylvania.

Friends are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 14 at Hall Funeral Home in Boothbay. A service to celebrate Lucille’s life will be held 1p.m. on June 15 at the Charles E. Sherman American Legion Post in Boothbay.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lucille’s memory may be made to Midcoast Humane, 190 Pleasant St., Brunswick, ME 04011.
