Madness and more

Congratulations to my wife for beating me again on the NCAA men’s basketball tournament bracket. I know it isn’t over but she holds a three-team lead with the 16 teams still alive. She is 14-2 while I sunk to 11-5. I need to make up ground somehow but I am pretty sure she has the same teams winning or losing in the next rounds on the way to the championship. It’s not over until it’s over but the future looks dim for me – perhaps I will treat her to something nice after she shows me her winning bracket and does a dance about the “Big Dance.” It is at least the third time she has defeated me. Her secret to success? “You think about it too much,” she tells me.

Saturday’s storm was fierce – somewhat reminiscent of the Ice Storm of 1998 – but thankfully not as bad. Power crews back then worked for several days – and in some cases, weeks – restoring lights and heat to customers whereas this storm came later in the season and the following days’ weather gave the workers better conditions to clean up and fix the problems.
