Rain delayed the Boothbay Lady Seahawks' opener April 12 in Class C lacrosse action at Camden Hills. But 10 days later, the sky cleared enough for a game against a combined Maranacook/Winthrop squad in which the Lady Seahawks dropped their first game 10-9.

Despite playing a player short the entire contest, Boothbay led 6-4 at halftime. Chloe Arsenault led the Seahawks in scoring with five. Other Seahawk scorers were Reagan Cola who scored twice, and Hannah Cola and Emilie Crocker who scored once each.

“We played really hard throughout the game, but playing one player short caught up to us,” said first year Boothbay head coach Bill Goldenberg. Boothbay goalie Alexis Davison had a strong performance in goal with 18 saves. Hali Goodwin led the team with six groundballs.

Boothbay (0-1) hosts Freeport (1-1) at 4 p.m. Friday, April 26.
