News and notes from the Community Center

As you all hopefully are aware, we have a room full of durable medical equipment – walkers, wheelchairs, rollators, crutches, canes, knee scooters, bed lifts, commodes, shower chairs, tub chairs, etc. These products are all free to the community. However, sometimes, the equipment is not in perfect condition, which means we must fix it. This costs money. We would love to have you help us keep this equipment in good, running shape for those in need. Please consider making a donation, check, cash, credit card for this very valuable resource. Thank you.

We are still searching for a gently used laptop, less than eight years old, as our public laptop is on its “last legs.” It doesn’t need to have all the bells and whistles – just the ability to connect to the internet and do some word processing. We would be very grateful for a Mac or PC.

Midcoast Ca$h only has two appointments left at the United Way of Wiscasset in Bath on April 13 for Federal and State tax preparation. At this writing, the times left are: 11:00 or 11:45 am. Appointments are a MUST. If you’re interested, we will help you with the appointment sign-up process at The Community Center. Alternatively, you can make your own appointment by calling 207-295-6340 or 207-751-3756; or email midcoastcash@uwmcm.org, or visit the following website: www.eznetscheduler.com/calendar/midcoastCASH.

And we have two more new games here to play. One is called Chroma Cube and looks fun and challenging. Chroma Cube is a color-based deduction puzzle that challenges you to figure out the resting place of all 12 colored cubes in a 3-4 grid. I heard a lot of people “thinking” and laughing. Another game is called iMAgiNiff… The box says: “The object of the game is to match the other player’s answers to questions about yourself, friends, family, or famous people you’ve never met. I read further: for example, after you have assigned names to the outer ring, throw a die and move a token the corresponding number to land on a person’s name; “If Mary were an animal which one would she be? A sheepdog, a chimpanzee, a koala bear, a bull, a panther, a toad. And thus goes on. Very funny and silly. Come on in and try out both games!
