Ocean Point Column: A wedding, family gatherings and more

You may be wondering why there hasn’t been a column in the last few weeks and I can only say that I, like many of you, are probably saddened by the fact that summer is over! It has taken me a few weeks to get back into the day to day routine of post Ocean Point and I will soon begin the count down to the return of summer 2019.

For those of you lucky enough to stay through the fall there seems to be plenty of activities to enjoy as well as the beautiful weather of late.

Sept. 8 was a beautiful day for the wedding of Dierk Demers and Elaine Katzelis who were married at the Wilson Memorial Chapel. The groom’s uncle, Darryl, presided over the ceremony and many family members and friends were in attendance to witness the exchange of vows. Several of Dierk’s Ocean Point childhood friends returned for the happy occasion and it was wonderful to see them all. Congratulations to Dierk and Elaine.

Welcome back to Dick Hall who returned to the Point recently and enjoyed a memorable weekend gathering of all the Hall family. His sister Alex along with Dick’s son Will and wife Meghan and children Billy and Charlie, daughter Kristin and son Orlando and daughter Meghan celebrated over the Labor Day weekend.

The annual Ross-Martin reunion was held at the home of Gail and Chris Ross. In attendance were Tim and Peggy Martin and daughter Hannah, Phil and Kathy Martin, and Burleigh and Donna Martin and their son Jon and his son Ian. Their family reunion has occurred for many years and Gail reports that everyone had a great time!

There are several weekends left before the seasonal water is turned off; I understand that will be Oct. 18. Hopefully many of you will be here to enjoy the remainder of the season and if not, please remember the Food Pantry as you prepare to leave.

Mark your calendar! Another Ocean Point Dinner Night is planned at the Inn over the long holiday weekend, turkey dinner with all the fixings! There will be more information regarding the dinner in the next couple of weeks. If you attended the Jamaican Dinner Night you certainly remember how enjoyable it was.

Have a great week!
