Our Lady Queen of Peace church on Atlantic Avenue held its annual summer fair Saturday, July 21.

“It is the only fundraiser of the year,” said sale coordinator Martha Barrett.

The sale on two floors of the church and parking lot consisted of a yard sale, plant sale, silent auction, book sale and refreshments including fresh lobster rolls.

Sitting at the bake sale table was 94-year-old Jean Thompson.

“Jean has done the bake sales forever,” said her friend Mary Pierce.

Wayne Sheridan helped out in the kitchen with his wife Sandra. Sheridan said he had been active in the community before moving to New York State eight years ago.

“We always come back every year for the fair,” said Sheridan.

Proceeds from the sale go to church maintenance and to support the Warm Spaces program which in rotation with other local churches provides free lunches to seniors, according to Barrett.
