Planning and working together

Mon, 08/06/2018 - 4:00pm

Dear Editor:

We live in downtown Boothbay Harbor and are pleased with the positive investments to the region. We have watched properties in need of investments, small and large, transformed into what we should all be proud of. The community is thriving, growing and moving forward. Change is good and we recognize the difference between preservation and nostalgia. We love calling the Boothbay region home and hope that our children may one day have the opportunity to raise their own families here as we have chosen, as did our parents before us. This requires the whole community planning and working together.

We've watched young people and families become a scarce resource over the years and all of us should be concerned about turning this around. Be a positive part of the planning process by educating yourselves about various projects and proposals in town. Go to planning board meetings, talk to your selectmen and make your voices heard.
