Ralph “Cy” Seifert of Southport died May 22, 2018 at Maine Medical Center. He was 90 years of age.

Cy was married to Sandra Charles Seifert, his wife of 38 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph E. and Ferole Seifert.

Cy was a graduate of Brown University class of 1950. His major was international relations. He spent summers cruising the oceans as a Naval lieutenant commander in the ROTC program. While working in Massachusetts, Cy was in the Naval Reserve for 20 years. His unit was trained to defend Boston Harbor.

Cy had a long and successful career in insurance, owning his own insurance agency in Mansfield, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Mansfield Jaycees, the Rotary Club and chair of the Downtown Industrial Committee. He was the liaison between the town of Mansfield and the Cabot Industrial Park, an 850-acre industrial site adjacent to Route 495 in Mansfield.

In his retirement years, he and his wife enjoyed homes in Conway, New Hampshire and Southport, Maine. Skiing and sailing were prime time events. The final retirement move, however, was to Southport where they enjoyed views of Cozy Harbor and the wonderful neighbors and friends about them.

Cy’s two children, Arthur and Melissa, as well as five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, will visit this summer. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for August 16 at 11 a.m. at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor.

Cy was a volunteer for many years of his life. He was a longtime member of Rotary in Massachusetts and Maine. He was involved in Dollars for Scholars, Scholarship America, and the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund, developing community programs to financially aid post secondary students going to college or technical schools.
