Ramblers prevail 5-1 in Class C North quarterfinal

The top-seeded Winthrop Ramblers defeated the eighth-seeded Boothbay Region Seahawks, 5-1, in the quarterfinal round of the Class C South field hockey playoffs played at Lewiston High School on Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Winthrop improves to 14-1 while the Seahawks finish the season with a 5-10 record. Winthrop will next face fifth-seeded Orono, which defeated fourth-seeded Piscataquis, 2-1, in another quarterfinal match-up.

Boothbay gave the Ramblers a challenge, trailing only 2-0 at the half, but without any substitutes, Boothbay lost to Winthrop for the third time this season.

Moriah Hajduk scored two goals and had an assist for the Ramblers, while Breonna Feeney, Kate Perkins and Maddie Perkins added the other three goals.

Seahawk junior Chloe Arsenault scored late in the second half for the final score.
