Rebuilding Together-Lincoln County, an affiliate of leading national nonprofit organization Rebuilding Together, announced Feb. 13 it will receive a $30,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The grant will allow Rebuilding Together-Lincoln County to build capacity and sustainability as they provide quality home repair, rehabilitation and community revitalization services to neighbors in need.

The four-year grant will help develop and implement a model program of rural capacity building through customized needs assessment, board and organizational development, funding and manpower resources, community engagement, and community revitalization. It is one of three $30,000 grants secured by the national office of Rebuilding Together for affiliates across the country.

"As we work to ensure everyone can live in a safe home and community, we must not forget our rural neighbors who face unique housing challenges," said Caroline Blakely, president and CEO of Rebuilding Together. "Through this grant from the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development, our affiliates in rural areas will be well positioned to provide critical home repairs in their service territory for years to come."

Rebuilding Together-Lincoln County works to keep eligible homeowners safe, warm, and able to live independently. Most assistance focuses on the elderly, disabled, and families with children. Each year, volunteers from throughout the Lincoln County community gather on Rebuilding Together Day to work on a wide range of projects that help neighbors in need achieve a safe and secure home environment. This year, Rebuilding Together Day is May 11.

“Rebuilding Together Day is a big day for us,” said Anthony Curulla, president of Rebuilding Together-Lincoln County, “but we also work on homes throughout the year and this grant will supplement the generous donations we get from local businesses and individuals so we can do an even better job fulfilling our mission.”
