On Sunday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor, the Rev. Robert “Bob” Dent will offer a message, "Centered on God," which explores the prayer of Solomon at the dedication of the first temple in Jerusalem. It  will be lifting up some of the insightful emphases in the prayer but also pointing to how the extravagance of the temple then and the later exclusive ritual practices of the temple in Jesus' day were reversed in the person of Jesus. Jesus not only turned over the tables of the money changers in the temple but helps us to be centered on God and more compassionate toward others.

The song "The Prayer" fits in both with Solomon's prayer and the the fact that finding a place of safety and grace also prepares us for living more daringly to share God's love. Rhiannon amd Bronwen Ramsey-Brimberg will be paying the music for "The Prayer” during a part of the sermon and also playing along with the hymns as well as offering special music.
