Senior Reagan Cola scored six goals to lead the Boothbay Region High School girls soccer team past the visiting Mountain Valley Falcons, 7-3, Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 12 at Sherman Field.

Cola, who got three goals in each half, and her teammates improve to 3-0. Fellow senior Olivia Paolillo scored the other goal, getting an open look at the net after an errant kick by the Falcon goalie at 29:45 of the second half. Paolillo’s goal put Boothbay ahead, 5-1.

Cola’s three first half goals came at 21:59, 12:47 and 8:48 before Emily Richard scored for the Falcons at 6:52. Boothbay led at halftime 3-1.

Mountain Valley (0-5) scored two goals, one by Kylee Pelletier and the other by Lilly White, to make the game 6-3, but Cola capped the scoring with a goal at 12:41 of the second half.

“This is amazing,” said Cola after the game when asked about her team’s early success. “There are a lot of good attitudes on the team.”

When asked about her career best six goals, she said her sister, Hannah, also scored six goals in one game for the Seahawks.

“But you don’t have to mention that,” she said with a laugh.

Coach Matt Brewer said the team is off to a good start but that “we’ve got a long road ahead. Our goal is to make the playoffs.”

Brewer had high praise for the Cola sisters.

“Reagan is a great player – she has 13 goals in three games — and Hannah is so valuable to us. She can play anywhere ... defense, middle and her play in goal in the second half against Hyde helped us win,” said Brewer.

After a game at Oak Hill Thursday, the team will host Telstar on Monday at 4 p.m.
