Seahawks to send handful to states, MVC early in season

Seahawks track and field traveled to Farmingdale April 29 to face the Bulldogs along with Mt. Abram and Lisbon high schools and Monmouth Academy.

For the boys, Gerald Gagne placed fifth in the 100m and 200m dashes, with times of 12.78 and 26.2 seconds, qualifying for the Mountain Valley Conference Championship in both events.

Graham Harris placed second in the 200m and third in the 400m dashes in 25.71 and 58.26 seconds. Harris qualified for the MVC championship meet in both.

Will Perkins wonthe 800m and 1600m runs in 2:10.18 and 4:51.4. The runs qualified him for states and earned him a place on the Seahawk Top Ten list in the 1600m run.

John Roberts placed 19th in the 800m run in 2:53.47 and Nathan Chatterton placed eighth in the 1600m run in 5:18.31. Quinn Ranta placed second and fourth in the 110m and 300m hurdles in 19.36 and 50.01 seconds and second in the triple jump with a 36’8” jump. Ranta qualified for the MVC’s in the 300m hurdles and qualified for states and placed in the Seahawk Top Ten list for the 110m hurdles and the triple jump events.

Brady Harmon, Zach Rollins and Gareth Hodgdon placed third, 11th and 19th respectively in discus with throws of 82’, 62’6.5”, and 55’1.5”.

Nicholas Morley, Harmon, Ben Rumney, Rollins and Hodgdon placed sixth, 18th, 22nd, 23rd and 29th, respectively, in javelin with throws of 96’5”, 77’7”, 73’1”, 72’11”, and 55’8”. Harmon, Morley, Rumney, Rollins and Hodgdon placed eighth, 10th, 14th, 17th and 20th, respectively, in the shot put with puts of 32’9”, 31’0.5”, 28’9”, 26’6” and 25’11”.

The Seahawks boys 4x400m relay team – Will Perkins, Graham Harris, Blake Erhard and Fox Elder –placed second in 3:54.51.

For the girls, Falyn Harriman placed third for the 800m run in 3:15.16. Grace Campbell placed third in the 1600m run in 6:30.35 and qualified for the MVC championship meet. Zada Smith placed fifth and ninth in the 100m and 300m hurdles in 22.12 seconds and 1:12.57.

Riley Sullivan, Emma Hodgdon, Emilie Crocker, Cally Margaret and Cassidy Hicks placed second, 12th, 16th, 25th and 28th, respectively, in the discus with throws of 60’4.5”, 52’2”, 48’9.5”, 31’ and 28’2”. Hodgdon and Crocker placed seventh and ninth, respectively, in the javelin with throws of 60’6” and 53’10”. Sullivan, Hodgdon, Crocker, Margaret and Hicks placed third, ninth, 13th, 25th and 28th, respectively, in the shot put with puts of 21’10”, 21’, 19’9.5”, 13’9.5” and 12’1”.

The Seahawks travel next to Bethel on Tuesday, May 7.
