Sidewalk activity adds to the fun at Wiscasset Art Walk

Music, art, dance, oysters and tacos . . . oh, my!

    Ingram Art & Antiques co-owner Kirsten Ingram thought the Wiscasset Art Walk (WAW) needed some sizzle, so she’s invited a local jazz trio to provide the evening’s brassy sounds. There’s plenty of outdoor art to view in the new courtyard gallery just off Main Street and take a look at the temporary sculpture, “Hesper,” on the recreational pier.

    Boston’s Luminarium Dance Co. will make its annual WAW appearance with improvisational dance throughout the Village. And, to make the meandering experience complete, the O’Oysters Food Cart from Portland will be shucking on Middle Street – between Treats and Golden Wok - along with tacos-to-go from El Rodeo Go, during the Wiscasset Art Walk on Thursday, Aug. 31, 5-8 p.m.

    The Congregational Church of Wiscasset’s photo booth, in front of Marston House, 101 Main Street makes a return appearance after last month’s rousing success – offering Polaroid take-home souvenirs, costumes optional; and the Garden Club of Wiscasset will be selling their fresh-from-the-garden bouquets for the last time this season in front of Treats, 80 Main Street.

    Indoors, Wiscasset Village’s fine galleries are featuring their late summer shows, including the coastal drawings of Mary Bradish Titcomb, considered the most significant woman artist of the Boston Impressionists, at Kochan Fine Art, 75 Main Street.

    The Village’s specialty shops are always stocked with great take-home finds: DebraElizabeth’s, 78 Main Street, is hosting Silver Pear Designs’ hand-made, leather and silver jewelry.

    Beelicious, 64 Main Street, features tastes from Regina Spices and freshly baked cupcakes by D-zerts of Westport Island, while Treats offers summer’s finest sips during a wine tasting, 4:30-7 p.m.

    Park your car for the evening and stroll the Village’s open doors and bustling sidewalks! Participant sites are marked with colorful streamers and touring maps are available throughout the Village.
