Survey scheduled for West Harbor Pond watershed

Volunteers are welcome
Thu, 05/10/2018 - 8:30am

The West Harbor Pond Watershed Association, with support from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, will conduct a survey of West Harbor Pond's watershed on Wednesday, June 6. The purpose of the survey is to locate erosion sites on the roads and other developed areas around the Pond that may affect West Harbor Pond’s water quality. Letters with more detailed information are being mailed to property owners in the watershed this week.

The survey will start at 8:30 with a 2-hour training session at the Boothbay Harbor town office for all survey volunteers; fieldwork will take most of the day, with the survey wrapping up later in the afternoon. If you would like to volunteer to help conduct the survey, or believe you're in the watershed and haven't received a letter by May 14, please contact Leslie Volpe at (207) 633-0557 or email thewhpwa@gmail.com.
