Thanksgiving and Christmas boxes at the Food Pantry

    This article contains important dates in November and December for clients of the Boothbay Region Food Pantry.

    Food pantry directors and volunteers will prepare and distribute Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to clients who sign up to receive them. Here are important dates to remember:

    Friday, Nov. 9 – This is the last date clients may sign up at the pantry for Thanksgiving baskets.

    Saturday, Nov. 17 – Clients pick up the baskets at the pantry between 10 a.m. and noon.

    Monday, Nov. 19 – Make-up distribution of baskets for clients unable to come on Saturday.

    Families who wish to sign up after Nov. 9 may do so, and the pantry will try to meet their requests.

    For families of four, the baskets will include a box of clementines, five pounds of potatoes, one pound of carrots, two pounds of onions, one package of butternut or other squash, one tin of cranberry sauce, one box of stuffing, one package of brown-&-serve rolls, one pound of frozen peas, one box of brownie mix, one can of applesauce, and one turkey or chicken voucher, as chosen by the family, to be picked up at Hannaford. Larger families will receive larger allocations.

    Clients may sign up at the pantry for Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza baskets with similar contents until Friday, Dec. 14. Distribution will take place on Saturday, Dec. 22 from 10 a.m. to noon.

    Other dates to remember are these:

    The Good Shepherd Food Bank’s Food Mobile truck will be in the lower parking lot of the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor on Tuesday, Nov. 6 from noon to 1 p.m. and again on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at the same time. Please bring your own bags and boxes. Everyone is welcome.
