Three things

Congratulations to my co-workers for receiving their well-deserved awards in this year’s Maine Press Association Better Newspaper Contest. Having run the MPA contest for a couple of years as an MPA board member, I know the competition is tough. Throughout the state we have wonderful weekly and daily newspapers and all of them produce quality writing, photography and more.

For three out of the past four years, we took first place for our website. This year we dropped to third place behind The Republican Journal and The Camden Herald. We’ll be working to jump back into first place next year!

Political television ads. Had enough? Less than two weeks to go so hang in there!

Speaking of politics, I had to inform three letter writers that their candidate endorsement letters were not to be included in this issue because their letters were sent in after the deadline of 4 p.m. on Monday. There has to be a cutoff date and time, and as you can see, many people got their letters in on time and there were several more in the previous weeks. We will be accepting endorsement advertising until Monday, Oct. 29 at 4:30 p.m.

The Sox are in the World Series again! Been quite a run ... 2004, 2007, 2013 and now 2018. With my bad luck at picking winners, I am going to pick the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games. But, you know, I really want Boston to win! After watching them since April, the Red Sox usually find a way to win.
