A time and place for remembering

Back in 2014, the St. Andrews Auxiliary was searching for a way to honor the memory of those who had faithfully, over many years, served the community through their work with the Auxiliary. A decision was made to place a commemorative bench in the Memory Garden at St. Andrews Village, a place suitable for contemplation.

With the recent passing of Barby Johnson, a very long-standing member of the Auxiliary, it seemed fitting as Memorial Day approaches to reflect on the intentionality of that bench to call to mind those who have gone before us and left us with a legacy of service, be it to country, family or, in this case, community. In our harried work-a-day world it is important sometimes to pause and remember the people who have positively impacted our lives by their good deeds.
