Two arrested for recent crimes

    Two Midcoast men have been charged by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in connection with break-ins and thefts at a job site in Bristol and a store in Boothbay.

    The job site was at Bristol Consolidated School. On the morning of Aug. 13, the Sheriff’s Office received a report that a site trailer belonging to Hagar Enterprises was broken into and numerous tools and other items were stolen from the trailer. Theft value was approximately $1,500.

    About 10:50 p.m. that day, Lincoln County deputies responded to an alarm at T & D Variety in Boothbay. Upon their arrival, they found the store had been broken into. It was later discovered numerous packs of cigarettes had been stolen. Theft value was approximately $1,00o. Damage cost to the business is unknown at this time.

    After surveillance footage was reviewed and leads and tips from the public were followed up on, the following men were charged in connection with the crimes: Daniel Chubbuck, 26, of Edgecomb was arrested on Friday, Aug. 24 and charged with three felony counts of Theft, a felony charge of Burglary, and two misdemeanor charges, Criminal Mischief and Criminal Trespass. He was later released on $2,000 cash bail.

    Kyle Gornto, 25, of Bath was summonsed on a misdemeanor charge of Receiving Stolen Property.

    Some items from the Hagar theft have been recovered.
