Vote for Holly Stover Nov. 6

Mon, 08/13/2018 - 7:00pm

    Dear Editor:

This Nov. 6, we have an important choice: who will represent us in the state legislature? There are so many significant issues facing our peninsula and our state that it is critical that we choose the candidate who is best prepared to lead in seeking solutions for us

Holly Stover’s background and experience have prepared her to lead our district and our state in addressing problems that we’ve watched reach crisis points. Holly is prepared to work to create jobs and provide affordable housing to keep the peninsula vital, address the opioid epidemic with solutions and support for the addicts and their families, assure access to affordable health care for all and invest wisely in education, broadband and alternative energy. In fact, the list of problems we face is daunting. It is clear that we need someone in this position who has direct experience working with the people of our community and with the system to find solutions.

Holly’s entire career has been dedicated to working for the families of the Boothbay region. She spent 23 years at the Department of Health and Human Services working on statewide initiatives to fight hunger, homelessness, lack of health care, domestic violence and numerous other challenges faced by the residents of this state. She works with the Boothbay Region Community Resource Council and law enforcement to provide a unique addiction outreach program “offering hope to those who have been rendered hopeless because of their addiction” (Boothbay Register, Aug. 4, 2017). Holly’s hands-on experience with some of our community’s greatest challenges and with the real people experiencing those challenges, have prepared her in a way that no other candidate can claim.

It is not rare for our state leaders to be faced with significant problems to solve. It is rare to have the choice of a candidate whose background has so perfectly prepared her to face and find solutions for the challenges that our community faces today. I urge you to vote for Holly Stover when you go to the polls on Nov. 6.
