Dear Editor:

Most dog owners know that chocolate is a no-no for dogs. They may not be aware that Xylitol is not far behind on the danger list and, depending on quantity consumed, can lead to hypoglycemia, liver failure, and death in dogs. It’s an artificial sweetener which I have recently learned may be found in many sweet snacks and OTC meds such as toothpaste, mouthwash, Ice Chips Candy, Ice Cubes gum, etc. Please be careful and spread the word to your dog lover friends.
