At 9:53 p.m. April 18, the Bath Police Department received a report of a male who had fallen into the Kennebec River from a floating dock located by the north parking lot of the Kennebec Tavern in Bath.

There were two witnesses to the male falling in the river, two adult males who identified themselves as the victim’s coworkers. They described what had happened to responding police officers. They said they were standing on the dock when their colleague fell in. No foul play is suspected. The witnesses told investigators they believe their colleague fell in accidentally. The dock was very unstable. The dock was roped off and all three men had to walk past the rope to access the dock.

The missing man works for a company from Wisconsin that has been subcontracted by Bath Iron Works. Police are working on making notifications to his next of kin.

Marine Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard, State Police Dive Team, Bath Fire, Woolwich Fire, the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Department, Brunswick Police Department and BIW Security have all helped.
