Y-Arts in New York City

Over the weekend of March 22, Y-Arts youth and their parents took a three-day trip to New York City.

The 53 travelers rode a private VIP bus and spent two nights at The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel. During their stay they attended two Broadway shows. On Friday night they saw “Wicked” at the Gershwin Theater starring Jessica Vosk as Elphaba. On Saturday the group went all in on “Aladdin,” the hit Disney musical.

In the morning they participated in a music and movement workshop led by Disney teaching staff. Following the workshop the group headed over to the New Amsterdam Theater for a backstage tour. The tour included time on the Broadway stage and a chance to try on and test out costumes and props from Disney musicals.

During Saturday afternoon the group dispersed for some free time where travelers went to Madame Tusssaud’s Wax Museum, Central Park Zoo, Ellen’s Stardust Diner, Empire State Building and, of course, shopping in Times Square.

Saturday evening the group came back together at the New Amsterdam Theater to see “Aladdin” on Broadway.

Y-Arts’ next big trip will be to the Junior Theatre Festival in January of 2020. If you are interested in joining the team, please contact Emily Mirabile prior to March 31.
