Yankee Magazine and Down East Select Spruce Point Inn as Editors’ Pick

With a strong start to the 2018 season, the historic Spruce Point Inn resort has earned high marks from Yankee Magazine, Down East, AAA and FamilyTraveller.com

Yankee Magazine editors spotlighted the resort as an Editors’ Pick for “oceanside lodging” in Maine in their annual Travel Guide to New England (May/June 2018). The editors noted in their recommendation, “The village is a 1 ½ mile bike ride away… assuming you can tear yourself away from the view.”

Each year, the magazine selects a few dozen highlights in each of the New England states for the Editors Choice section. Spruce Point Inn was one of just 30 of the featured lodging, dining and attraction options in Maine.  A perennial winner of Conde Nast Traveler and Down East “Best Of” recognition, this was the first time that Yankee Magazine has named the inn an Editors’ Pick.

The new Down East “Best of Maine” Readers’ Choice Awards selected Spruce Point Inn as “Best Hotel in Maine” for the third year in a row. Boothbay Harbor was a focal point of many readers’ selections for “Best of Maine” honors and the Inn’s amenities also won notice from AAA Northern New England Journeys (best choice in Maine for “Pet friendly hotels for your next road trip) and FamilyTraveller.com as one of “New England’s top 9 coastal resorts for families.”

“We are honored and delighted that Spruce Point Inn draws the attention of national, regional and local media,” said innkeeper Angelo DiGiulian. “But earning the readers’ choice – the votes of guests we strive so hard to serve – is golden. To retain the ‘best hotel in Maine’ standing for three years in a row is gratifying but it also the gold standard to which the team here at Spruce Point hold ourselves, every day.”

Spruce Point Inn guests will discover even more reasons for praise in this 2018 season. During the off-season, the innkeepers looked closely at every detail from the guest’s perspective and made subtle improvements designed to enhance comfort and convenience. Return guests will meet a new chef at the helm of the inn’s three restaurants, Nick Krunkkala, and new menus with heavy emphasis on the locally fished, farmed and harvested.
