The Friends of Windjammer Days(FWJD) loved all eight designs submitted for the first T-shirt design contest. The contest was the brainchild of new FWJD member Rosemary Bourette who was on hand to present all of the students with their cash prizes.

Seven of the eight attend Boothbay Region Elementary School: first graders Megan Higgins and Pauline Nadeau-Miller; third grader California Brown; seventh grade students Maya Pangburn and Keana Pitcher; and eighth grade students Grace Campbell and Amber Johansen.  Grade 9 homeschooler Bobby Clarkson rounds out the group.

Bourette presented the artists with prizes on behalf of the FWJD on March 7 at BRES.

Grace Campbell’s T-shirt design was selected by the FWJD at its February meeting for the 2019 Windjammer Days Festival, Campbell received the top prize - a check for $250. All of the other students received $10 prizes.

In addition to these cash prizes, all of the designs will be displayed at the Friends of Windjammer Days information tent during the Festival, June 23-29. The tent will be up at the Whale Park on Tuesday, June 25 and Wednesday, June 26. For more on the Festival, visit www.boothbayharborwindjammerdays.org
