The Boothbay Lady Seahawks rebounded from a four-goal deficit May 11 in defeating host Sanford, 12-11, in a schoolgirl lacrosse match. Senior Reagan Cola sparked the victory scoring six of her seven goals in the second half. Boothbay’s win improves its record to 2-2. Boothbay was in ninth place in the Class C Heal point standings at press time. Other Seahawk scorers were Chloe Arsenault with four goals and two assists. Cortney Meader scored a goal. Hali Goodwin had an assist along with five ground balls.

Sanford (1-4) is in 10th place in the Class A South standings.

On defense, coach Bill Goldenberg credited seniors Hannah Cola and Lilley Harris with spearheading the defensive effort along with support from Kylie Brown and Maddie Barter. Goalie Alexis Davison made 12 saves. Goldenberg thought his team made several key second half adjustments which made the difference.

“We did a better job of sticking with cutters through the goal area shutting down their one-on-one drives, and on offense, we have had a few nice cuts giving us open looks in front of the goal,” he said.

Boothbay plays Camden Hills (4-2) on May 14 in Rockport. The Windjammers are in ninth place in Class B. On May 15, Boothbay hosts the combined Nokomis/Maine Central Institute squad at 4 p.m.
